After mucho thinking i came up with a method of making templates global (more of a workaround)

Introduction

The following works only if you have multiple instruments or outs with multi-timberal connected to the 2488.

What we will be doing in this tutorial is to build up as collection of Global templates contained in a single file. This can be used in any new song.

You will have a master template called Main001, which we never record with, but is duplicated every time we need to create a new song.  This will be done in place of using Create Song.  As we keep recording songs you will build up your own collection of global song templates inside this file so at any time to help you quickly get that sound setup you used on your last hit track.

I recommend working through this tutorial because reading it can seem repetitive and pointless until you actually start using it in practice

How it works:

To Begin a new song you will load your master template, select your favorite scene, start sequencing and fixing before you start recording.

2488 Initial setup

What needs to be done before we reach that stage as follows….

1) We need to start with a new song (create song) so you now have a blank setup.

2) Using your creative talents start sequencing (do not record) and when you have a good starting mix(sound) all EQs fxs etc.. are as good as you will get, and this also assumes your using multiple sound sources for each of the inputs like drums, keys, pads etc...

Do the following…

3) Press Scene, highlight SAVE.

A new entry appears at he bottom, use the down arrow to select it, then press SHIFT-Title and give it an appropriate title like Dance001 then press Enter/Yes and then Enter/Yes again to save you have now saved your very 1st global template

4) Press Menu and Song SAVE.

Press Menu Song/Load, Highlight the new song and then press Shift Title, Rename this to Main001 and press Enter/yes.

Then press Home.

5) Press Menu  Song/Copy Enter select Main001 and Enter again to complete copy. You have now created your 1st Live setup

6) Press Menu Song/Load, Highlight one of the copies and then press Shift Title, Rename this to Dance001

7) Load Dance001

Your now ready to record using Song Setup Dance001

Do your recording and saving as normal and all other operation etc.. Saving regularly.

When your finished your recording and producing

Save every thing and shut down.

Okay what have we just done?

We now have your recorded tracks in song named Dance001

And we also have Song Main001 when has in its setup Scene Dance001 (your initial setup)

Lets create another Song

Welcome back to your 2488, You are about to create another song.  Goto Menu Song Load and select Main001 and Enter, This will now load your initial setup.  You now have a couple of choices, if you intend to create a song similar to  Dance001 you can goto Scene select Dance001 and Load.

This will now load your initial dance template.  Repeat steps 2 to 5 and once you have your sequence reading to record save your current setup using Scene by pressing scene save, and give it a name, save the song before recording, make a copy of Main001 and then using the steps above rename the copied version to your new song name and load this renamed copy and start recording.

What have we being doing here?

We created an initial setup called main for storing global templates

In the future this will probably have upto 99 setups

Any time you wish to create a new song can either

Duplicate the main001 and load duplicate, choose your scene and start recording

Or Load the main001 one choose a starting template, sequence and modify a  scene and save as a new scene

Then save Main001 and duplicate

Then Load duplicate and use the new scene to record..
